I really should move the site to something easier to update! Jeez!

Recent projects: Matt Pence recording with Rob Gomez (Bella Union) and Two Cow Garage. Matthew Barnhart mixing with The New Year (Touch and Go) Shearwater (Matador). Tons of other stuff as well!

Some exciting stuff has been happening lately, including the delivery of a Studer A827 24-track tape machine, which will replace our Otari MTR-90.

South San Gabriel was in the studio during February working with Matt Pence on a new album. Hogpig, Jasper Stone, The Great Tyrant, Four Days To Burn, and We'll Kill You all finished up projects with Matthew Barnhart. mb also finished new recordings for Shearwater's Palo Santo re-issue, out 10 April on Matador Records. The band Krakow from Belgium flew over in January to mix a record with Matt Pence.

We've been humming along the past few months, with records by Hogpig, Jasper Stone, The Great Tyrant, Centro-matic, Stumptone, Issac Hoskins, and a bunch more. Justin Collins has started working here more often and has brought some of his microphones (Beyer M130, M160, and M380) in tow. Later this month, Shearwater will drop by to record a few songs.

As of late:

May 2006

Over the past couple of months: Matt Pence has been working with Robert Gomez and Raised by Tigers on new albums. Matthew Barnhart traveled to Valencia, Spain and recorded the Spanish band Polar, and then completed mixing here at the Lab. He's also now mixing Peter Schmidt and His Gentleman Scholar's new album. Dave Willingham did sessions with Captain Carl, in between tours with the Hairy Apes and Jacob Fred Jazz Odyssey.

We've been busy as usual the past month. Matt Pence worked with both The Drams and Two Cow Garage. Matthew Barnhart is working with Peter Schmidt and His Gentlemen Scholars on a new LP. We have also been stocking up on some new equipment, including a pair each of vintage Neve 1073 and 1066 mic pre/EQ modules, a Soundelux 251 mic, and a Studer A80 RC 1/2" stereo recorder.

Hey! We have a new web site! Finally!

This month we have a host of great bands making records here. Jetscreamer tracked a new album for Bella Union Records with Dave Willingham. Hogpig were here doing some demos with Matthew Barnhart. Brian Yeager (US75) is here with a new project, tracking with Dave again. Justin Collins mixed the new Burnt Sienna record at the beginning of the month, which was tracked earlier this year w/ Steve Albini at Electrical Audio in Chicago. Pence was in Europe with South San Gabriel, but he's going to have a busy December with Aqueduct (Barsuk Records), and then January with the Drams (ex-Slobberbone, for New West Records).
